I am so excited to have joined the Manzanita family for the 2019-2020 school year! I have heard so many great things about Manzanita Public Charter School and I’m so glad that I am now a part of all of the great things happening on our campus and in our scholars’ lives. I love the sense of family here! This year I’ll be teaching third grade and I cannot wait to learn, grow, and explore right alongside with them!
I grew up in Lompoc but went to school in Santa Barbara for my whole life because my parents commuted to work. I graduated from Dos Pueblos High School in 2007. After that, I went on to graduate from UC Santa Barbara with my Bachelor’s Degree in 2011 and my Master’s Degree and Teaching Credential in 2012.
I began my teaching career as a third grade teacher in Joshua Tree, California, and fell in love with that grade level! After two years of living in the desert, I moved to suburban Chicago and continued my career in education in the Midwest. It was quite a change for me! First, I was a Teacher’s Aide in a sixth grade classroom. Then, I spent a year as a daily substitute working in classrooms of all grade levels – from Kindergarten classrooms all the way up to twelfth grade. I quickly learned that elementary schools were definitely the right fit for me! In 2016, I started teaching second grade for the next three years. Now, I am teaching third grade again and I feel like I’m back at home (literally and in the classroom). J
Every day that I am at Manzanita Public Charter School I strive to provide the absolute best learning experiences for my scholars so that they can find a joy in learning. I want them to be as excited to be at school as I am! In our classroom we know that it is okay to make mistakes because that’s where the learning happens! We’re a community that works together each and every day to build lifelong learners and thriving citizens that support each other.
