For the past three years, I have been the sixth grade teacher for Manzanita Public Charter School. I feel very fortunate to work with our sixth graders. Sixth grade is the bridge to middle school and this year will be filled with rich learning situations that will expand your child’s knowledge base, while building a supportive and creative classroom environment.
I believe in challenging students with hands-on opportunities and higher order thinking situations. I bring a wealth of knowledge related to integrating technology within the curriculum. I focus on preparing students for the transition to middle school as well as expose them to strategies that will help them be successful throughout life.
I have taught 5th and 6th grades as well as technology education and computers at the middle school.
I have a BA from Worcester State College, Masters in Education and Teaching Certificate from Washington State University. I am GATE (Gifted and Talented) certified. Prior to teaching, I worked for 7 years as a sales and marketing rep. I also served in the military. I enjoy hiking, surfing, traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
This will be a great year of taking risks, learning, sharing and growing with your child.
