Kindergarten ~ Sixth Grade

A Tuition Free Public School

I'm Ready!

Just like my good friend SpongeBob SquarePants, I'm ready for the adventures that await my scholars and me this coming year at MPCS.  I have lots of fun and creative activities planned for the fifth and sixth graders in room 13, and I can hardly wait!

My goal as a teacher is to get to know the scholars in my classroom and determine how each of them explores the world around them and stores that information in their eager brains.  Using this information, I can tailor my lessons and activities to reach all of my scholars and their interests.  I am a firm believer in the adage 'It's not how smart you are; it's how you are smart'.  I know that with hard work from all members of the learning triangle (student, teacher, parents), anyone can succeed in school.

Now a little bit about my background.  I was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, so I'm proud to call myself a local boy.  I studied Theatre Arts at UC Irvine and met the future Mrs. Kaml there.  We married in 1986 and have two awesome children, Matthew and Victoria.  After working eleven years at Disneyland, I returned to the Central Coast to escape the Southern California rat race.  I have worked in the television industry as a writer, director, producer, and host of a local children's television show.  Having a musical as well as a dramatic background, I have served as choir director at my church for the past nine years.  I also taught Drama to elementary school students through the Children's Creative Project before deciding to settle into a classroom of my own.  I applied to Manzanita Public Charter School because of its atmosphere of scholarship, creativity, and equity.

I look forward to the challenges of the coming school year and to collaborating with my co-workers and the parents of our community.
