No way! No way I can't believe I am writing that I have spent 20 years in education (it seems like I just started). I have taught 2nd-7th grades. However, most of my career has been spent as a Reading Specialist and a District Language Arts Coordinator. My Bachelor’s Degree is in Liberal Studies, my Master’s Degree is in Reading and Language Arts, and hold a CLAD certificate (for second language learners), a Reading Specialist Credential, and an Administrative Credential. Teaching children to read is my passion. It was my fortune to complete Reading Recovery’s rigorous training that prepared me to work with struggling readers. For 7 years, I was the District Science Mentor. I don’t just work! I’ve taken care of my husband, Dave, for 29 years and he’s taken care of me. We raised 3 children: our daughter is a kindergarten teacher who just had our first grandbaby, our oldest son works for the CHP in dispatch (a job that is more challenging than I ever imagined), and our youngest son works in computer colorization. You may hear me chatting about my love to travel, sew, read, write, and practice Yoga or activities in my local church. I am looking forward in assisting Lynnda and the staff in giving Manzanita students a solid, yet innovative education. |
