My name is Matt David and I am thrilled to be teaching fifth grade here at Manzanita. I look forward to working with the staff here at Manzanita to further enrich this unique learning community.
I grew up about three hours east of Lompoc in the small town of Porterville. Having always loved the central coast, I moved over about six years ago to attend Cal Poly. I graduated in 2006 with a B.A. in history and finished my teaching credential at Chapman University. I currently live in Arroyo Grande with my beautiful wife Stacey, and my chocolate lab, Molly. Prior to this year, I have worked at the elementary, middle and high school levels, coached basketball, and worked for the Forest Service. When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me camping, surfing, playing guitar, gardening, and driving my 1967 Chevelle.
I hope my students and their parents are ready for a great year, full of fun, adventure, and of course, academic excellence. The emphasis for my class this year will be versatility and growth. My goal is to prepare the scholars in room 19 for the academic and social endeavors that life demands. I can’t wait to get started!
