They find a good place to sell their trees next to the Rockefeller Center construction site. The construction workers help them unload their trees noticing that Henry’s father has likely seen more successful economic days.
Father and son have a productive day selling most of the trees but ultimately they give the last tree - the tallest - to the construction team who so graciously helped them and allowed them to peddle their trees at the construction lot. The workers place the tree in front of the emerging Rockefeller Center and Henry’s father explains…The best presents are the ones you don’t expect.
All together they adorn the tree with homemade stars made from newspaper, ornaments of tin cans, pinecones, and cranberry garland. It is a magical moment for Henry and he believes it is the finest tree he has ever seen. He makes a wish – for a warm house to replace his family’s drafty one room shack.
Mesmerized by the tree’s grace and beauty he picks up a pinecone from the tree, climbs into the borrowed truck and they head for home. They are satisfied with the outcome of their business endeavor. The tree became the very first Rockefeller Center Tree and was the beginning of a legacy!
The spirit of giving does not end there and the next morning the Rockefeller construction workers arrive at Henry’s home with saws, supplies and lumber; within a week, the family has a newly built home - one that is warm and safe. Henry's wish was granted! He plants the pinecone he saved from that very first Rockefeller Center tree in the yard of his new home.
A new tree sprouts from the planted pinecone and over the years grows into a magnificent evergreen. As an old man, Henry repays the gift by donating to the Rockefeller Center the enormous tree. After bringing joy to thousands as a beautiful Christmas tree, Henry makes sure the wood will be used to build a home for a family in need.

Encuentran un lugar para vender sus árboles junto a la construcción del Centro Rockefeller. Los trabajadores de la construcción les ayudan a bajar los árboles notando que el papá de Henry haya visto días más prósperos.
Padre e hijo tienen un día muy productivo vendiendo la mayoría de los árboles y dan su último árbol- el más grande – a los trabajadores que les ayudaron permitiéndoles vender sus árboles junto a la construcción. Los trabajadores pusieron el árbol frente a lo que sería la entrada del Centro Rockefeller, el papá de Henry dice… Los mejores regalos son los que no se esperan.
Adornaron el árbol con estrellas caseras hechas de papel periódico, adornos de latas, piñas de pino y guirnaldas de arándanos. Es un momento mágico para Henry y él cree que es el árbol más lindo que ha visto. El pide un deseo Una casa calientita que remplace a la que su familia tiene.
Hipnotizados por la gracia del árbol y la belleza, el recoge una piña del árbol, se sube a la camioneta y se dirigen a casa. Están satisfechos con el resultado de su esfuerzo comercial. ¡El árbol se convirtió en el primer árbol del Centro Rockefeller y fue el comienzo de una herencia!
El espíritu de dar no termina allí a la mañana siguiente los trabajadores de la construcción Rockefeller llegan a la casa de Henry con sierras, material y madera; y en una semana, la familia tiene una casa nueva - calientita y segura. ¡El deseo de Henry se le concedió! El planto la piña que recogió del árbol del Centro Rockefeller y la planto en el patio de su casa nueva.
Un árbol nuevo que creció de la piña y que con los años se convirtió en un árbol de hojas grandes. Ya como un hombre, Henry devuelve el regalo donando al Centro Rockefeller un enorme árbol. Después de dar felicidad a muchos con el hermoso árbol de navidad, Henry se asegura que la madera sea usada para construir una casa a una familia necesitada.
