There is always something magical about a New Year and the possibilities, adventures, and new understanding that it brings. Manzanita Scholars are welcoming 2012 with anticipation and a thirst for knowledge as they return to Manzanita.
My Principal’s Book of the Month
Just in Time, Abraham Lincoln written by esteemed author Patricia Polacco
will take us on a time-travel journey,
transporting us back to 1862. Our scholars will
meet Michael and Derek, spirited young boys who
are enticed by a Civil War Museum Director into
“playing a game” an exercise that is actually a
doorway back into our country’s Civil War. |

Justo a tiempo, Abraham Lincoln escrito por Patricia Polacco quien nos llevará a un viaje a través del tiempo, del año 1862. Nuestros estudiantes conocerán a Michael y Derek, jóvenes con energía que son atraídos por un Director del Museo de la Guerra Civil en “jugando un juego” un ejercicio que es una puerta trasera

As Union soldiers Michael and Derek meet President Lincoln, view the battlefield of Antietam, experience Lincoln’s passion and dreams, and gain knowledge of the important fight that inspired Lincoln to write the Emancipation Proclamation. Is the adventure a very true-to-life reenactment and are the two young boys actually transported back into the past? A lucky penny dated 2007 is the assurance of their true identities. They gain new insight and appreciation for America as one voice, one country…one nation. This delightful tale will set the stage for the Living History Assembly scheduled for January 24, 2012 at 8:30. The assembly is sponsored by PTA and will feature Abraham Lincoln.
We embrace 2012 as a fresh and magical year filled with limitless possibilities. A

Como soldados de la Unión Michael y Derek conocen al Presidente Lincoln y ven los campos de batalla de Antietam, la pasión y sueños de Lincoln y adquieren conocimiento de la lucha que inspira a Lincoln a escribir la Proclamación de Emancipación. Es una aventura que presenta la vida real, y ¿son los dos niños transportados al pasado? Un centavo de la suerte con fecha del 2007 es la garantía de sus verdaderas identidades. Adquieren intuición y apreciación por América como una voz, un país… una nación. Esta deleitante historia será el escenario del Asamblea Viviendo la Historia programada para enero 24 del 2010 a las 8:30. El asamblea es patrocinada por el PTA y presentará Abraham Lincoln.
