I would have told someone they were crazy if they told me a few years ago that I would be living in Central Coast California! As Dr. Seuss says, YOU decide where you go….and where I’ve decided to go, is following my heart! On July 23, 2011 I married my best friend and soul mate, Eddy. He is in the Air Force and has been stationed out here at Vandenberg. Because of this, I moved out to California the beginning of August after we were married.
Prior to this new journey, I was born and raised in Millersburg, Pennsylvania with my mom, my dad, and an older sister, Sarah. My hometown is a VERY small town located 30 miles north of the state capital, Harrisburg. We have A LOT of Amish people that live in our community and NO stop lights! I went from passing buggies on the way to school each day, to the big city of Pittsburgh, where I went to Robert Morris University and majored in Elementary Education with a concentration in Social Sciences. After graduating college a semester early, I became a First Grade teacher at W. Reily Brown Elementary School in the Caesar Rodney School District in Dover, Delaware. I taught there for the past 2 ˝ school years.
I absolutely love teaching! I am a firm believer that you do not just ‘become’ a teacher, but rather, you are born a teacher; and I was born a teacher. After teaching in inner-city Philadelphia, international in The Netherlands, suburban Pittsburgh, and rural Millersburg, I was able to gain a huge knowledge and understanding for all different levels of scholars.
Probably one of my favorite things about being a teacher is seeing the growth in scholars as the year progresses. Second Grade is a very critical time in scholars’ growth and development and I am so blessed that I get to be a part of that. I look forward to a great year ahead! Thank you for letting me be a part of the Manzanita Family! |
