PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL

MAUREEN MCCARTHY
Fourth Grade Teacher
Hello! I am a fourth-grade teacher at Manzanita.
I moved to Lompoc from Orange County a few years ago and quickly fell in love with the Central Coast's beauty, open spaces, and wonderful community.
I am the proud parent of four amazing young adults. I was a stay-at-home mom for many years and loved being actively involved in my children's classrooms, leading Scout troops, and participating in many fun adventures with them. I love hiking, camping, and traveling, and I have a deep passion for the outdoors. I enjoy finding ways to bring that passion into my classroom and teaching my students about the value and benefits of spending time in nature.
I earned my teaching credential and master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, where there is a strong emphasis on educating for love and wisdom. My priority is to ensure that every student feels supported, valued, and safe in my classroom. I strive to create a vibrant, loving, and calm classroom environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and empowered to excel. Each day, I strive to let kindness and empathy guide my teaching.
I love being a part of the Manzanita family!
