BECKY RANNEY
Fourth Grade Teacher

My name is Becky Ranney, and I am excited to join the team at Manzanita Public Charter School.  I have been fortunate to teach many grades in the past 23 years, which has given me a solid foundation as a public school educator.  My passion is making kids feel welcomed at school, and I do this by fostering a fun, yet respectful classroom environment.  I began my teaching career in Modesto, California at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School, where I taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Religion.  In 2000, we moved our family to Lompoc (my husband's hometown), and I began my tenure with LUSD.  After completing my student teaching at LaHonda and Miguelito, I began teaching at LVMS, where I stayed for 4 years.  I took some time off to raise my three children, and returned to teaching at Vista de las Cruces in Gaviota, teaching 4th grade.  I then moved back to LUSD where I taught 5th grade for 7 years.

I am originally from San Jose, California, where I attended San Jose State University.  I met my husband, Todd at SJSU.  We have three children who keep us busy, even though they are all grown.  Camryn (23) is a graduate of Arizona State University and lives in San Diego.  Cullin (21) is in the Navy and is stationed in Ridgecrest, CA.  Carson (19) is in the Air Force and will soon be stationed in Grand Fork, ND.  We enjoy going to visit our kids as much as possible.  Some of my hobbies include golfing, hiking, flipping houses, reading for pleasure, and riding my Peloton.
