LEXIE RICKARDS
Manzana Middle School Teacher
Hello! My name is Lexie Rickards, and I am excited to begin my sixth-year teaching at Manzanita Public Charter School. I have over 16 years of experience in education and have had the privilege of teaching students at many stages of their academic journey.
My undergraduate studies focused on art and literature, and I hold a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, along with a Reading Endorsement from the University of West Florida. I have a passion for lifelong learning and enjoy being a student myself. Recently, I earned a STEAM Certification through the University of San Diego and completed the From Crest to Coast Summer Institute through the Central Coast Science Project.
I believe the classroom should be a place where students feel inspired to explore, ask questions, and develop a lasting sense of wonder about the world around them. Meaningful learning happens when students feel connected, supported, and encouraged to take on new challenges. My goal is to create a positive, engaging learning environment where every student builds confidence, thinks critically, and develops a lifelong love of learning.
After 28 years of military life and 12 moves around the country, my spouse retired from the United States Air Force, and we are grateful to now call the Central Coast home. We have two adult children who are both pursuing careers in the sciences. When I'm not in the classroom, you'll likely find me hiking, biking, swimming, or running while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
I look forward to partnering with you to make this a wonderful year of learning and discovery.
