I am DeeDee (Deanna) Wheeler, and I am absolutely thrilled to embark on my fourth wonderful year here at Manzanita Charter School! This year, I am delighted to step into an exciting new role directing our Visual and Performing Arts education. Many of your children already know me as a classroom teacher, but my deepest passion lies in connecting core academic growth with creative expression.

For over twenty years, I have worked simultaneously in general education and the arts—building innovative arts programs and co-directing vibrant community theater in both San Diego and Riverside counties. Because I am deeply rooted in both classic academic instruction and the creative arts, I specialize in design-driven learning that empowers students to build confidence, think critically, and become independent, lifelong learners.

At Wheeler’s Expressive Arts Studio, my top priority is creating a structured, yet joyful, positive, and innovative studio environment. Here, your children can safely take creative risks, express themselves, and discover their unique storytelling voices through music, theater, dance, and visual art. I deeply value strong, collaborative partnerships with parents, teachers, and students—we are a true team!
