It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Manzanita Public Charter School website. We are located in rural, Northern Santa Barbara County on the illustrious Vandenberg Space Force Base grounds.    We service 450+ students in the diverse communities of VSFB, Vandenberg Village Mesa, and the Lompoc Valley.   Our elementary school houses grades TK through Sixth grade and offers free bussing to various locations on the Space Force Base as well as Vandenberg Village, Mesa Oaks, and Lompoc City limits.

Manzanita’s faculty and staff are committed to providing a quality education to this community’s children in an effort to help them reach their fullest potential.   Manzanita maintains strong academic programs, and we challenge all students with a curriculum that fosters critical thinking and learning experiences which encourage the whole child to find personal passions and interests.   The Manzanita family is dedicated to providing an individualized educational plan that not only meets the academic needs of its scholars but also considers their physical, emotional, and social development.

Academically, we offer a wide range of programs to meet the needs of our students including a broad Special Education Program and elective programs which include Theatre Arts, STEM, and Outdoor Education.  Many of our faculty hold advanced degrees and recognize the need to stay informed of current trends and research in education.  In addition to Manzanita’s consistent pursuit of academic best practices, the charter school is currently in the beginning stages of a 40 million dollar facilities rehabilitation project which will include a new gymnasium, state of the art kitchen, library, and new TK classrooms/playgrounds.

It is certainly an exciting time to be a Manzanita Mountain Lion!

Thank you again for visiting. We invite you to peruse our website in order to better determine if Manzanita Public Charter School is the best choice for your child.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Nicastro, Superintendent
